What you'll learn

From the first prompt
to a plan you can run

The course is a City of Answers with 8 districts, one lesson each. You come in at The Gate and finish at The Citadel.

How AI answers get built

Follow a question through retrieval, grounding and query fan-out, and learn the difference between being cited and being mentioned.

  • Lesson 2 · The Crawl Docks

Let the right bots in

Tell training crawlers from search bots and user-triggered fetchers, then check robots.txt, rendering and CDN rules so they can reach your pages.

  • Lesson 3 · The Answer Quarter

Write passages engines can lift

Lead with the answer, use question headings, lists and tables, and keep each section clear enough to stand on its own when it is quoted.

Get the JSON-LD essentials right and make your brand one unambiguous entity, with consistent names and sameAs links.

  • Lesson 5 · The Agora
  • Lesson 6 · The Embassies

  • Lesson 8 · The Citadel

Measure it and run it

Track whether you appear in AI answers and what that sends you, then turn it into an audit, a roadmap and a 90-day plan.

Part 1

How AI search works

What happens between a question and a cited answer.

Follow a question from the prompt to the finished answer: retrieval, grounding and query fan-out. You will learn the difference between being cited and being mentioned, and how an AI answer differs from a results page you already know how to win.

Part 2

Your site

Let AI in, write passages it can lift, and mark up who you are.

Tell AI crawlers from the user agents that fetch a page on someone's behalf, and decide what your robots.txt should say to each. You will also cover rendering and JavaScript, llms.txt, sitemaps, IndexNow, and the CDN and WAF rules that quietly block bots.

beginner30 min

Lead with the answer, then support it. You will practice passage-level clarity, question headings, lists and tables, clean definitions, and keeping dates and freshness honest, so each section still makes sense when it is pulled out on its own.

beginner30 min

Get the JSON-LD essentials right for Organization, Article, FAQPage, HowTo and Product. You will then work on entity consistency, sameAs links and the knowledge graph, so machines know exactly who and what you are.

Part 3

Beyond your site

The mentions, reviews and platforms that shape what AI says about you.

AI search tools learn about you from places you do not control. You will look at brand mentions, reviews, Reddit and forums, digital PR, Wikipedia and Wikidata, and the comparison and "best X" lists that shape recommendations.

intermediate25 min

Work through Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT search, Perplexity, Copilot and Claude one at a time. For each you will see what it tends to favor and how to run a simple test on your own pages.

Part 4

Measure and scale

Track your AI visibility and run AEO as an ongoing program.

Build a prompt set, track share of voice, and find AI referral traffic in GA4. You will also read server logs for bot hits and turn the results into a report that people outside your team can follow.

advanced25 min

Run an audit, prioritize what you find, and build a roadmap. You will practice reporting to stakeholders or clients and finish with a 90-day plan you can start on Monday.

AEO is the work of making your pages easy for AI search tools (ChatGPT search, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Copilot, Claude) to reach, understand and cite when they answer a question. It builds on SEO rather than replacing it: a page an engine cannot crawl or index is a page it cannot cite.

SEO wins you a place in a list of results. AEO wins you a place inside an answer: a link the engine cites, or your brand named in the text it writes. The foundations carry over, but what gets used is often a single passage rather than a whole page, and part of what engines know about you comes from sites you do not control.

Marketers who already know SEO basics: in-house, agency or freelance. You do not need to code, though you will read robots.txt files and JSON-LD snippets and decide what they should say.

You should know the basics: what crawling and indexing are, and what a title tag and a sitemap do. The course does not teach them again; it starts where they stop.

8 lessons, one for each district of the City of Answers: The Gate (how answer engines choose sources), The Crawl Docks (make your site reachable by AI), The Answer Quarter (writing citable content), The Schema Works (structured data and entities), The Agora (authority beyond your site), The Embassies (platform playbooks), The Observatory (measuring AI visibility), The Citadel (running an AEO program). Each lesson mixes short explanations with checks, hands-on exercises and an audit at the end.

Yes. All 8 lessons are live.

Lesson 1, How answer engines choose sources, is free once you sign in with Google or your email address. No card is needed.

Each lesson takes about 20 to 30 minutes. It is self-paced, so you can do one in a lunch break or several in a sitting, and your progress is saved as you go.

Yes. Once you have completed all 8 lessons you can download a Learn AEO certificate with your name on it, ready to share on LinkedIn.

Lifetime access is a single payment of $100 (£80), with no recurring charges. If you would rather not pay up front, the Monthly plan is $10 (£8) a month and you can cancel any time from your account. Payments are handled by Stripe.

Yes. There is a 14-day money-back guarantee: if you are unhappy with the course within 14 days of buying it, email us and we will refund you in full. A Monthly plan can be canceled at any time, and your access runs to the end of the period you have paid for.

If you are visiting from a country with lower purchasing power, a percentage discount is offered automatically and applied at checkout.
